Music Directors

Ernie Miranda, Director
Mr. Miranda graduated from Savanna High School in Orange County. He continued on with his education and received his Bachelors Degree and Masters in Music Degree from California State University, Fullerton. In addition to directing the award winning Upland Highland Regiment and Color Guard, Mr. Miranda also conducts the Concert and Symphonic bands, as well as the Upland High School Wind Ensemble.

 

Mark Capalbo, Assistant Director
Mr. Capalbo is a graduate of the Upland High School class of 1979. He continued on with his education and earned his Bachelors Degree from California State University, Northridge. In addition to being Assistant Director for the award winning Upland Highland Regiment and Color Guard, Mr. Capalbo is the Director of the Jazz program at Upland High School. Mr. Capalbo still performs with local jazz groups.

  Peter Gomez, Guard Instructor   Peter Gomez has had extensive designing experience over the course of his career. He was the long-time lead designer for the Chino HS Color Guard, a three-time WGI World Class Finalist. Peter currently serves as the visual designer for The Vanguard Cadets. He also designed the 2017 Rose Parade opening and closing ceremonies for the Santa Clara Vanguard.  As founder of Marching Arts, Inc. who provides services and products throughout the US and Central America, he has grown his business to provide a place for music educators to go with all their design and product needs. He recently accepted the position of California Sales Representative for Fruhauf Uniforms and is also a Sales Representative for Algy costumes. Peter considers himself as an entrepreneur for the marching arts and an innovator for modern programming.  His marching experience includes being in the horn line for The Santa Clara Vanguard and The Blue Devils, winning 3 World Class titles during his time as a performer. He became a designer and Color Guard choreographer with drum corps and marching bands that include; The Bluecoats, The Academy, Pacific Crest, and Vanguard Cadets.
